Why is it called the Satsuma suite, you ask? Those of us living in Southern states like Alabama know the Satsuma mandarin orange as an easy-to-peel seasonal citrus, available mainly in the Gulf Coast states in this country because it is so sensitive to cold weather. The Southern connection might be enough to justify the name, but there's more!
The symbolism of the satsuma, is why we named this 2 BR suite with an adjoining Jack and Jill bath, the Satsuma suite. In many countries, satsuma mandarins are associated with celebrations and are used as decorations and gifts during holidays. Because the orange segments can be shared, they are given to other people to represent gold, wealth, good luck, and loving connections between them. Satsumas with their leaves and stems attached can symbolize family and friends who will stay together. In China, a newly married couple may peel and share a pair of mandarins on their wedding night to symbolize a future happy life together.
At Jubilee Suites, we are all about creating a sense of loving community with and between our guests.

Our Satsuma suite features two adjoining bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, a smart TV, and a sitting area. The two bedrooms share a kitchenette with a beverage refrigerator, coffee and tea service, snacks, and a microwave. This 2 BR suite shares a Jack and Jill bath (shower only) which makes it perfect for a family with children or two couples traveling together. We also love the shared balcony running along the north side of the hotel where you can sit and watch the sunrise with your morning coffee and the sunset with your cocktail. The Satsuma has a private entrance located near our front door just steps from the parking lot and a flight of stairs to the 2nd level. We are happy to help you carry your bags both up and down the stairs. Accommodates up to 4 guests total: 4 adults, or 2 adults with 2 children (plus optional crib).
BR #1: This queen bedroom features a spectacular view of Mobile Bay from its large bay window overlooking the bluff. Its plush Murphy bed with luxurious linens can easily fold into the wall to expand the already spacious and comfortable sitting room. In addition to the shared balcony and kitchenette, this bedroom also features a table to seat 4.
BR #2: This second queen bedroom makes a large additional space for a second couple or for a family with children to be together in an adjoining, yet separate space. It also has luxurious linens on a plush mattress, comfortable seating for an afternoon of reading, and shared access to the bay view balcony and Jack and Jill bath. We can also set up a crib in this bedroom if needed.
More options: Create a 3BR/2BA arrangement for a larger group traveling together by also renting the Lotus suite located directly above the Satsuma. All guests can enjoy our daily breakfasts in the Bayview great room.
