As we begin our 7th year of owning and living at Jubilee Suites, Jim and I still marvel at the amazing spring in Fairhope, so much earlier than Charlotte, NC where we raised our 3 boys. Ever since former Mayor Tim Kant was recruited in 1983 by former Mayor James Nix, Fairhope has had a City Horticulturist. Timothy Kant, who became mayor himself in 2000, was at the heart of many of the flower and tree projects that beautified Fairhope and continue to delight residents and visitors with our year-round floral displays on every corner and planter box. In Fairhope, something is always blooming, but the arrival of spring transforms this picturesque town into a vibrant garden of blooming tulips, daffodils, azaleas, wisteria and spring-blooming trees, painting the landscape with colorful flowers wherever you look. Soon, the air will be filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming jasmine, and gardenias, and I can't wait! It's the perfect jumpstart for all the fun of the season and the simple pleasures of enjoying life in this enchanting Southern town. It's a perfect time to visit us at Jubilee Suites.
Birds in Fairhope, AL
As I sit on our balcony looking out over Mobile Bay, I'm struck by all the sounds and sights of migratory birds returning to the region for nesting. Already, we've seen lots of excited activity at our bird feeders and our bluebird house, flocks of robins in the yard returning from their winter homes, masses of cedar waxwings cleaning the dried berries off the trees we planted just for this reason, and much interest in our martin house. The hummingbirds should be arriving any day now from their winter vacations. We love to lounge around the fire pit and watch the eagles, ospreys, herons, geese, and all sorts of shore birds flying over Mobile Bay and landing in our trees overhead. It's a sign that spring is here and with it, Fairhope becomes a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Consider visiting us for the fall migration or taking part in the 20th Annual AL Birdfest, October 10–13, 2024.

In Fairhope, Alabama, the arrival of spring brings the return to outdoor dining, breathing new life into our culinary scene. Many restaurants open up their patios, inviting patrons to enjoy their meals in the fresh air and warmth of spring's gentle breezes. Jim and I often will choose a restaurant on the basis of the appeal of its patio dining, and in Fairhope, there is no shortage of choices.
